An Emergency Service/Mitigation bill is prepared at the conclusion of the initial service and can be billed directly to the insurance company. Then, a detailed estimate with the entire scope of work, will be presented before restoration work begins. Customer Product Selection Forms and Change Order Forms are used to communicate and track customer selections. A payment schedule is also set up at this time.

4. reconstruction

The reconstruction phase of the project is when results start to show. All scheduling is handled through our Job Planning system. Customer involvement is encouraged to assure choices are understood, and also to prevent any miscommunication or misunderstandings. Your project manager will work to schedule in a manner that minimizes inconvenience and delay.

5. payment

Once we complete your job to your satisfaction, we use a Certificate of Satisfaction to confirm this. In most cases your insurance representative will issue payment. If your name is included on the payment, we ask that you endorse the check when the work is complete and you are satisfied. Larger jobs may also include your mortgage company on the check, and may be set up on a payment draw schedule. We can help you through this paperwork process.

6. warranty

What We Do

Water Extraction & Dry Out

The first step is to contain the water or sewage, and then remove any standing water or sewage as quickly as possible. Air movers are used to create airflow against walls, furniture and floors to assist in moisture evaporation. Our industrial-grade dehumidifiers draw in cool, wet air and blow out warm, dry air to speed up the drying phase. Throughout the process, our water damage restoration technicians measure the moisture content of materials using hygrometers and moisture meters, so we can keep track of progress and concentrate resources on any trouble spots.

  • Turn off the water source if possible. If you don’t know how, call a plumber.
  • Turn off the breaker in the wet areas before unplugging or removing electrical devices located on the wet carpet or other surface.
  • Place aluminum foil under the legs of any furniture resting on wet carpet. This might prevent furniture stains on your carpet, and keep the moisture from wicking into the furniture legs. If the water is more than surface deep, stand the legs in plastic bowls or something similar.
  • Lift draperies away from wet carpet.
  • Pin up upholstered furniture skirts if they are in danger of touching the wet area. They could wick up water and become stained or bleed color into the carpet.
  • Remove books, shoes, paper goods, fabrics, potted plants, and other items which may stain wet carpet or wick up moisture.
  • Turn on the air conditioner (no lower than 72 degrees) to speed up drying in the summer or in high humidity areas. If the a/c unit is in a wet area, do NOT turn it on.
  • Remove area rugs from wet flooring or carpet.
  • Move clothing or other fabric items to a dry place. Empty drawers of all items in order for the cupboard, bureau, etc., to dry more easily.
  • If the walls are wet, remove any decorative items from them.
  • Call your insurance agent to report the water damage. If you have to stay elsewhere while water damage restoration services are being done, be sure that your agent and your water damage restoration company know how to reach you.

Types and Sources of Water Losses

Category 1: Clean Water

This water originates from a source not posing substantial harm to humans.

Examples: broken water supply lines, sink overflows with no contaminants, appliance malfunctions involving water supply lines, melting snow, falling rain water, broken toilet tanks, and toilet bowls that do not contain contaminants or additives.

If left untreated for 72 hours, Category 1 water will likely become Category 2 water.

Category 2: Gray Water

This water contains a significant level of contamination and has the potential to cause discomfort or sickness if consumed by or exposed to humans.

Category 2 water carries microorganisms and nutrients for microorganisms. Its sources may include discharge or overflows from dishwashers, washing machines, or toilet bowls (with some urine but no feces); sump pump failures; seepage due to hydrostatic pressure; and broken aquariums. Gray water may contain chemicals, bio contaminants, and other forms of contamination including physical hazards, and is unsuitable for consumption. When affected with Category 2 water, carpet pad must be removed and properly disposed of. Carpet that is saved must be cleaned with hot water extraction.

If left untreated, Category 2 water becomes Category 3 water in 48 hours or less.

Category 3: Black Water

Black water contains pathogenic agents and is grossly unsanitary.

Category 3 water includes sewage and other contaminated water sources entering or affecting the indoor environment. Sources may be toilet backflows that originate from beyond the toilet trap, and all forms of flooding from seawater, ground surface water, and rising water from rivers and streams—these types of water carry silt and organic matter into structures and create black water conditions.

The health of workers and occupants is the most important consideration when dealing with sewage backflows.

Category 4: Special Situations

When a regulated material is present — in any water damage restoration situation — a specialized expert may be necessary to assist in damage assessment, and government regulations will apply.

Regulated materials pose potential or recognized health risks and may include, but are not limited to: arsenic, mercury, lead, asbestos, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), pesticides, fuels, solvents, caustic chemicals, and radiological residues.

Classes of Water Loss

Class 1: Slow Rate of Evaporation

Water losses that affect only part of a room with low-permeance/porosity materials (e.g. plywood, particle board, structural wood, VCT, concrete). Little or no wet carpet and/or cushion are present (or damage confined to a small area, or wet for a short period). Minimum moisture is absorbed by materials, which release that moisture slowly.

Class 2: Fast Rate of Evaporation

Water losses that affect the entire room of carpet and cushion. Water has wicked up walls less than 24 inches. There is moisture remaining in structural materials (e.g. plywood, particle board, structural wood, VCT, concrete).

Class 3: Fastest Rate of Evaporation

Water may have come from overhead. Ceilings, walls, insulation, carpet, cushion, and subfloor in virtually the entire area are saturated.

Class 4: Specialty Drying Situations

These losses involve wet materials with very low permeance/porosity (e.g. hardwoods, subfloors, plaster, brick, concrete, stone, and crawlspaces). Typically, these are deep pockets of saturation, which normally require very low specific humidity.
